A lot of our customers at the Regency – particularly our younger guests – ask me the same question every time the weekend rolls around. Sure Kensington is teeming with culture and amazing restaurant spots, but where can you go to really let your hair down?
Well, you’re bound to find something to your taste in the famous Kensington Roof Gardens, just around the corner from your London Kensington hotel. I have to confess that I have a soft spot for this venue which has offered me many evenings of entertainment.
The Secret Jazz Club
Kensington has always been a great hotspot for jazz, which is probably why this June it will play host to the Secret Jazz Club. In what will surely be the jazz event of the summer, the Secret Jazz Club brings together some of the world’s most talented hep cats for one night only. To my mind, Secret Jazz Club brings together the best parts of jazz – fusing jazz, swing and Latin rhythms that force the crowd to get off of their feet. There’s no freeform, wandering acid jazz here – this is fun, lively, and will guarantee you a good time.
The best thing by far about the Secret Jazz Club is its dedication to the Jazz Era atmosphere. Dress code is strictly ties and suits for men, cocktail dresses for women. Make sure to bear that in mind before you book your tickets!
The Rooftop Film Club
The Rooftop Film Club is the perfect event for the film fan, whether you’re looking for a romantic comedy or a cult classic. This is Kensington’s premier film event, and for good reason: guests staying in a London Kensington hotel won’t want to miss this unique cinematic experience.
This outdoor screening experience allows film buffs to enjoy amazing food, sip a cold bear and enjoy their favourite movie outdoors from the comfort of the Kensington Roof Gardens. Snap on a pair of headphones, sit back in a plush chair and enjoy the most relaxed night in Kensington. The Rooftop Film Club comes prepared for London’s unpredictable weather, even providing a waterproof poncho!
If you’re looking to get a sneak peak of the more glamorous side of Kensington, then you need to try The Club on a Friday night. The Club is open weekend nights from 10pm to 3am, and hosts a wonderful barbeque evening during the summer from 7.30pm. Drop by for a late dinner of pulled pork, and dance off the calories until the wee hours of the morning. Don’t forget though: the Club’s dress code is strictly “no effort, no entry”.
